The Algarve coast line is measured at about 100 miles long and are beautiful, white and blue sea so you can relax and soak up the sun. The western coastline is extremely beautiful with cliffs full of black rock. Algarve’s Beaches vary from tiny,  to long which both have open soft sand, while you sit back and relax you can see the Atlantic waves crash against the cliff. Silves, picturesquely silhouetted above the River Arade, and you can visit the castle which, dates right back to the Romans. The castle is the Algarve's finest and dominates this is a must see on your list on sight seeing.

Tavira's is probably the most elegant Algarvian towns there is and is often described as the 'Algarvian Rome'. Tavira stands on two hills on either side of the River Gilao, the two sides of the town are linked together by a seven-arched bridge.

Tavira is known as the Town of Churches, since a remarkable 22 churches and other places of worship lie within its boundaries.

Lagos is a major port and historically one of the region's most interesting cities. It is known worldwide for it famous boats, and designer boutiques.Lagos has fabulous beaches, and is a historic town with great shopping centres and shops. Lagos has its quiet cobbled back streets which make this town one of the most beautiful resorts on the coast line.

Places of interest

It's fun watching the steady transformation of Vilamoura, particularly the huge new marina, with berthing for over 600 craft. In the evening the quayside restaurants open their doors so you can try the chefs special or browse through the finest menus in Algarve.

Vilamoura lies at the heart of golfing country so if your partner starts getting bored of the site seeing which we doubt he can hit the golf course for some fun. Vilamoura has some pleasant beaches, dramatic cliff top walks and lots of water sports for you to take part in.

From the 1st January 2002 the Currency of Portugal is the Euro; their old currency was the "Escudo".

In Algarve they drive on the right hand side and the vehicles entering from the right have priority unless there is a STOP sign. Drinking and Driving is against the law and the limit of alcohol is 0.5gm/l, which is lower than in UK. Any fines must be paid on the spot.

In Algarve the food in restaurants is all good quality, based on fresh local products. Best value for money dining is in the simplest restaurants away from the main tourist centres, but pork and chicken are the main meat dishes.
