With the winter weather coming take real care and follow these tips

Winter is some times depressing for people, some people dont like the cold weather and we have some tips for you to stay healthy this winter:

The first rule is to keep your self and others warm at all times as cold weather can affect different people in different ways, make sure you are warm as well as safe.

If you are wanting to watch you weight over the christmas period you can buy small supplies of vegitables and fruit then keep them cold so they last longer, we suggest if you put them
in your shed, garage or basement to help them retain their nutritional value for longer.

Don't become saturated this Christmas:
Try roasting potatoes in olive oil instead of fat, and replace sausages or red meats with more poultry this winter to help keep your diet low in saturated fats.

Winter warmer:
If you get any snow over the christmas holidays and your children want a snow man building try to avoid cakes and chocolate when you get home. A hearty mug of soup and wedge of wholemeal bread will taste good, warm you up and keep hunger away for longer.

How to avoid a christmas cold:
The best way to treat a cold is to take a mild pain reliever, avoid unnecessary activity, get as much bed rest as possible and drink plenty of fluids, especially fruit juices.

Keep up your natural resistance through good nutrition and getting enough sleep and exercise. Turn your thermostat down and keep the humidity up in your home. Dry air dries out the mucous membranes in your nose and throat and causes them to crack, creating a place where cold viruses can enter your body. Avoid direct contact with those who have colds and wash your hands frequently instead of swappig germs and bacteria.

Aviod going out unless nessasery until you feel better and if you do decide to go out make sure you keep you chest and throat warm as well as the rest of your body. How stupid you may look wearing hats, scrafs and gloves this is not a fashion parade this is  to protect the most sensitive body parts.

Common sense is always the best way of getting rid of colds and make sure the older and the younger ones are wrapped up warm as cold can be fatal.
