Chin ImplantsChin Implants can change your face and make you more confident
Chin Implants are designed to re shape the face and give you a whole new image
Chin implants can be performed at the same time as another operation to re-shape the face, such as a facelift or a nose job.
Recessive chins are built out either by moving the chin forwards or by inserting an implant over the chin bone. During the operation your plastic surgeon will usually make a cut inside your mouth between your lower lip and gum, then insert an implant to move your chin forward.
Because the implant is inserted through the mouth, there is not usually a scar which can not be visable. If a bone graft is used there will be scarring in the area, your consultant or surgeon will discuss this with you prior to your operation and make sure you fully understand the risks and procedure.
Chin implant can be performed under general anaesthetic so you will be in hospital for one to two days. You will also need time off work and someone to help you around and make sure you take it easy, rest and make a full recovery.
Complications depend on the type of operation and other factors such as your general health. Your plastic surgeon will explain how the risks which may apply to you.
