The key to successful exercise is motivation and results:
Make sure you understand the benefits of exercise, we are more motivated to do things that benefit us, the more we benefit the more motivated we become.
A good place to start is to create a personal’ reasons list’, keep a diary and jot down every reason you can think of that you want to get healthy / get fit / lose weight through consistent exercise.
Exercise with a friend, statistics show us that we are more likely to be more successful at exercising consistently when you can keep each other going. Knowing that someone is waiting for you can be a great motivator in itself.
It is said that it is best to exercise first thing, so set your alarm a little earlier and head for the gym before work, even if it’s for a quick 30 minute session.
A good motivator is to train for local 5k or 10k walks or runs. This can be a great motivation to exercise on a regular basis.. don’t think you can’t do it, YOU CAN! Reward yourself.
Seen a dress, pair of shoes you want? Give yourself a challenge, for example loose 2lbs this week, run/walk 5k etc then once you’ve achieved it buy yourself that special treat make exercise as enjoyable as possible.
Buy yourself an ipod or mp3 player with your favourite tunes to get you motivatedWear good shoes, spend some money on decent running/gym shoes, in the long run you will benefit. Worn out shoes will make you much more prone to injuries
But the best motivation of all, see the results and get compliments…what could be better!!
